About the Hartfield & Co. Bourbon
A truly historic craft spirit from the actual birthplace of bourbon itself! Hartfield & Co. holds the distinct honor of being the very first distillery to legally produce bourbon in Bourbon County, Kentucky, since Prohibition forced the county's original 26 distilleries to close their doors in 1920. Crafted in an authentic "Pre-Prohibition" style, this small-batch bourbon utilizes a highly unique, malt-heavy mash bill of 62% corn, 19% rye, and a massive 19% malted barley. Distilled in a single pass and aged in small-format barrels, it is bottled at a sturdy 100 proof (50% ABV). The elevated malt content provides an incredibly rich, cereal-forward flavor profile with a fascinating hint of earthy smoke that sets it far apart from modern, mass-produced bourbons.
NOSE
Warm and inviting with bold aromas of sweet corn, rich caramel, toasted malt, stone fruit, and a distinct whisper of earthy tobacco.
PALATE
Smooth, robust, and remarkably grain-forward. Lush flavors of vanilla bean, sweet pastry, and honey are beautifully balanced by a lively punch of cinnamon and a fascinating trace of toasted, slightly smoky cereal grain.
FINISH
Medium-long, warm, and highly satisfying with lingering notes of sweet baking spice, roasted nuts, and soft oak.
