Hakushu 12 Year Old

The Hakushu 12 Year Old is an exceptional, highly revered Japanese single malt whisky crafted at Suntory's legendary mountain distillery, nestled deep within the pine forests of Mount Kaikoma in the Japanese Alps. Known as the "Verdant Single Malt," this expression is produced using crisp, soft water filtered through ancient granite rocks and is aged for a minimum of twelve years in a combination of American oak, Spanish oak, and Japanese Mizunara oak casks. The high-altitude environment and unique climate impart a remarkably fresh, crisp, and vibrant character that beautifully balances bright green orchard fruits with a delicate, gentle whisper of clean peat smoke.

Food Pairing: Pairs beautifully with fresh sushi and sashimi, grilled yakitori chicken, lightly battered vegetable tempura, smoked salmon, or creamy goat cheese.

TASTING NOTES - A brilliant, pale champagne gold color with a light-to-medium body and a clean, remarkably crisp, and refreshing mouthfeel.

NOSE - Fresh and highly aromatic, leading with bright notes of green apple, ripe pear, and fresh mint, layered with nuances of pine needle, basil, kiwi, and a very subtle hint of sweet green tea.

PALATE - Clean, vibrant, and elegantly balanced on the tongue, revealing flavors of sweet sweet pear, kiwi, and citrus zest, smoothly evolving into notes of toasted almonds, herbal green tea, and a gentle touch of underlying earthiness.

FINISH - Medium in length, clean, and remarkably refreshing, resolving with a lingering brightness of citrus peel, green tea, and a delicate trace of soft, clean wood smoke.
