E. Guigal Cotes-Du-Rhone Rouge 2020/2022

E. Guigal Côtes-du-Rhône Rouge is widely considered a benchmark for the appellation, offering a quality and consistency that often surpasses its regional classification. Unlike many Southern Rhône reds, this blend is notably Syrah-dominant, providing extra structure, dark fruit intensity, and savory spice. It presents a deep, dark red color and an aromatic bouquet of blackberries, raspberries, and red currants, layered with notes of black pepper, licorice, and tobacco. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and robust, featuring silky, well-integrated tannins and a long, elegant finish. To achieve this complexity, Guigal ages the wine for approximately 18 months in large oak foudres, a significantly longer period than the regional standard.
