About the E. Guigal Cote Rotie La Mouline
E. Guigal "La Mouline" is widely considered the most elegant and floral of the three legendary "La-La" crus. Sourced from a one-hectare parcel in the heart of the Côte Blonde, it is planted with vines averaging over 75 years old on steep, terraced limestone soils. This wine is famous for its high proportion of Viognier (up to 11%), which imparts an extraordinary aromatic complexity and a seductive, velvety texture. The bouquet is a "symphony" of red berries, violets, and apricot, layered with sophisticated notes of oriental spices, incense, and subtle smoky oak. On the palate, it is medium-to-full-bodied and remarkably suave, showcasing silky tannins and a seamless balance that allows it to be approachable earlier than its siblings, while still possessing legendary aging potential. Aged for 40 months in 100% new French oak, it concludes with a persistent, perfume-like finish.
