About the Tenuta San Guido Guidalberto 2023 1.5L Magnum
This remarkably sophisticated, silky, and profoundly expressive Super Tuscan red wine represents an incredibly elegant offering from the legendary producers of Sassicaia. It opens with a beautifully complex bouquet of ripe black cherries, dark plums, and fresh cassis, masterfully interwoven with sophisticated nuances of Mediterranean herbs, crushed stones, sweet tobacco leaf, and a delicate touch of exotic spice. On the medium-to-full-bodied palate, it showcases an impeccable vertical balance and a polished architectural depth. A dense core of sun-ripened dark fruits is driven by a vibrant regional acidity and anchored by tightly knit, fine-grained tannins that lead into a long, savory, and mineral-flecked finish.
Food Pairing: A majestic partner for rich gastronomy; pairs flawlessly with grilled ribeye steaks, roasted rack of lamb with rosemary, slow-braised wild boar ragù over pappardelle, or aged Pecorino Toscano.
Decanter
James Suckling
This vintage shows a remarkable aromatic profile of Mediterranean herbs, cassis, black cherries, leather and earth with a kind of gamey depth. Full-bodied, it shows velvety, slightly sandy tannins with a firm structure, refreshing integrated acidity and a savory cedar finish.

Wine Enthusiast
The Tenuta San Guido 2023 Guidalberto comes from a challenging vintage, shaped by heat and rain that brought pressure from downy mildew, particularly affecting early-ripening Merlot. Big efforts were made during selection. Aromatically plump and expressive, the wine shows ripe cherry and blackberry preserves layered over a medium- to full-bodied mouthfeel, with primary fruit rounded by sweet notes of cinnamon. Despite the difficulties of the year, there is appealing freshness on the palate with hints of orange peel and blood orange that lift the fruit, giving the wine energy and balance.
