About the Grand Marnier
-
Blend & Flavor
Grand Marnier is known for marrying the depth, complexity, and maturation character of cognac with the bright, aromatic citrus bite of bitter orange.
The oranges used are Citrus bigaradia (a specially selected bitter / Seville-type orange) which is prized for its high aromatic oil content.
The orange peels are dried, macerated, redistilled, then blended with cognac, sugar and water. -
Cognac Sourcing & Blending
The cognac used in Grand Marnier is sourced from multiple eaux-de-vie producers in the Cognac region (multiple crus). The house blends these to maintain consistency.
Some of the Cognac components come from the Grande Champagne, Petite Champagne, Borderies, Fins Bois, and Bons Bois areas. -
Maturation / Marriage
After blending, the liqueur is often allowed to rest / marry in oak vats to let the flavors meld and smooth out. -
