Goldschmidt Vineyards Plus Game Ranch Cabernet Sauvignon 2019

Goldschmidt Vineyards Plus Game Ranch Cabernet Sauvignon 2019 is an ultra-premium, small-lot selection that represents the absolute pinnacle of Nick Goldschmidt’s Oakville production. The "Plus" designation indicates that this wine was sourced from the best-performing block of the Game Ranch vineyard—located on the eastern red silty-clay bench of the Silverado Trail—and received an extra year of barrel aging in 100% new, hand-selected French oak.
On the nose, it delivers an opulent and concentrated bouquet of blackcurrant, black cherry, and crushed violets, followed by sophisticated layers of lead pencil, mocha, and toasted cedar. The palate is massive yet impeccably balanced, showcasing a dense, velvety core of dark fruit underpinned by the signature "Oakville" structure of firm, dusty tannins. The finish is remarkably long and resonant, leaving a lingering impression of black forest fruit, espresso, and sweet tobacco.

94 Points - Wine Spectator

This has a lovely beam of raspberry and boysenberry pâte de fruit backed by gently mulled plum and black cherry fruit, all laced with light anise, singed apple wood and black tea notes. Shows subtle sassafras and loam details, which add more range through the finish. A touch exotic in style, for which it will certainly have fans. Drink now through 2035.

93 Points - Wine Enthusiast

A suave texture and full flavors of black fruits and oak spices give this full-bodied wine lots to like. Fine-grained tannins lightly wrap black cherries, blueberries, cinnamon and mint for a pleasant complexity and plush mouthfeel. Best through 2030.

92 Points - James Suckling

This is dark-fruited with notes of nut shell, black cardamom and wet earth. Full-bodied with polished tannins. A little chewy still with dark berry and walnut undertones. Drink or hold.
