Glenmorangie Signet Reserve

Glenmorangie Signet Reserve is an ultra-premium, deeply decadent evolution of the distillery's legendary original Signet single malt Scotch whisky. Crafted under the direction of Dr. Bill Lumsden, this highly limited expression starts with the unique "espresso-like" spirit distilled once a year from rare, high-roast "chocolate" malted barley. After initial maturation in a combination of bourbon, sherry, and virgin oak casks balanced by some of the distillery's oldest stocks, these choice parcels are extra-matured for an additional 12 months in hand-selected Pedro Ximénez (PX) sherry casks. This specialized double maturation takes the hallmark dark coffee and cocoa core of the original Signet and amplifies it into a richer, incredibly complex, and intensely luxurious dessert-like masterpiece.

Food Pairing: Pairs spectacularly with classic Italian tiramisu, dark chocolate espresso tortes, roasted venison with a blackberry reduction, or aged blue cheeses like Stilton.

TASTING NOTES - A rich burnt umber color with an unctuous, syrupy, and incredibly mouth-coating texture that heavily coats the tastebuds.

 NOSE - Deep and powerful, offering intense aromas of dark chocolate sponge cake, roasted espresso beans, and muscovado sugar, layered with hazelnut cream, orange zest, and aromatic oak.

PALATE - Incredibly decadent and thick, revealing rich waves of chocolate truffles, toffee, fudge, and treacle, moving into Turkish coffee, toasted cinnamon, orange oil, and a sweet hint of raspberry.

FINISH - Remarkably long and complex, resolving with lingering notes of dark cocoa powder, baking spices, creamy toffee, and the distinct, indulgent finish of fresh tiramisu.

SERVE - Best enjoyed neat at room temperature in a Glencairn or tulip-shaped spirits glass to fully capture the deep layers of high-roast malt and sherry complexity.
