About the Glenfiddich 31 Year Old Grand Chateau Bordeaux Wine Cask Finish
Glenfiddich 31 Year Old Grand Château is a limited-edition Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky from Glenfiddich’s Grand Series. The whisky was matured in American and European oak before undergoing an unusually long nine-year secondary maturation in Bordeaux red wine casks, the first Glenfiddich release to use Bordeaux red wine casks in this way. Bottled at 47.6% ABV, Grand Château combines Glenfiddich’s orchard-fruit character with rich red fruit, vanilla, warming spice and toasted oak.
Food Pairing: Roast duck, beef tenderloin, aged Comté, cherry tart, baked apples or dark chocolate with roasted hazelnuts.
Tasting Notes: Rich and elegant, combining ripe fruit and floral character with caramelized orchard fruit, warming spice, nuts and mature toasted oak.
Nose: Warm vanilla develops into ripe cassis berries and floral notes, followed by a delicate nutty character.
Palate: Rich caramelized cherries and apples layered with warming spice and toasted oak.
Finish: Exceptionally long and deep, with lingering fruit, spice and mature oak.
Serve: Best enjoyed neat at room temperature in a whisky or tulip-shaped glass. Allow it several minutes to open before tasting; a few drops of water may be added if desired.
