Glenfarclas 'The Family Casks' 1979 43 Year Old Summer 23 Cask 11017 is an exceptionally rare single cask single malt Scotch whisky distilled in 1979 and bottled in the Summer of 2023 for the renowned Family Casks collection. Aged for 43 years in a single Sherry plain hogshead, this expression represents the pinnacle of long-term maturation from the family-owned Glenfarclas Distillery.
Food Pairing: Pairs wonderfully with rich dark chocolate, roasted venison, aged Stilton cheese, or a fine Cuban cigar.
Tasting Notes : Deep amber and polished mahogany hue with a rich, full-bodied texture and oily mouthfeel.
Nose : Rich sherry notes, dried dark fruits, Christmas cake, old leather, polished oak, beeswax, and subtle baking spices.
Palate : Complex and velvety with dark chocolate, stewed plums, raisins, gentle oak tannins, nutmeg, espresso, and warm orange peel.
Finish : Long, warming, and elegant with lingering dry oak, dark fruit sweetness, cocoa, and soft spice.
Serve : Serve neat at room temperature in a traditional Glencairn or copita glass; a few drops of water may be added to open up the aromas.
