About the Giuseppe Cortese Barbaresco 2021
This highly elegant, classically framed Barbaresco opens with a radiant, high-toned bouquet of wild red cherries, field strawberries, and crushed pomegranates, beautifully interwoven with sophisticated notes of dried rose petals, white pepper, licorice, and a touch of sweet tobacco. On the medium-to-full-bodied palate, it strikes a seamless balance between structural power and silkiness, delivering a tightly concentrated core of energetic red fruit framed by fine-grained, chalky tannins and an electric regional acidity that carries into a long, mineral-driven and savory finish.
Food Pairing: A spectacular wine for gastronomy; pairs exquisitely with roasted duck breast, truffle-infused mushroom risotto, slow-cooked veal shank, or medium-aged regional cheeses like Toma Piemontese.
James Suckling
Wine Spectator
This is ripe and fluid, sporting cherry, strawberry, forest floor, iron, sanguine and spice aromas and flavors. Linear and wiry in profile, with terrific balance and length. Shows fine complexity.
