About the Gerard Bertrand An 806 Corbieres
Gérard Bertrand An 806 Corbières is a robust and beautifully structured Mediterranean red blend that pays homage to the profound history of the South of France. The name "An 806" marks the first recorded traces of the Peyrepertuse Castle, a majestic Cathar legacy that still overlooks the vineyards today. Masterfully crafted from hand-harvested Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvèdre grown on schist and limestone soils, this wine reveals a deep, intense ruby-red hue in the glass. The bouquet is highly expressive and powerful, offering a rich tapestry of exceptionally ripe black fruits like blackberries, dark cherries, and plums, seamlessly interwoven with savory notes of Mediterranean garrigue herbs, warm mocha, and toasted coffee derived from careful oak maturation. On the palate, it is full-bodied, generous, and perfectly balanced, showcasing a beautiful roundness on the attack and beautifully soft, velvety tannins. It culminates in a deeply flavorful, lingering finish accented by subtle hints of sweet baking spices.
Food Pairing: Pairs wonderfully with grilled red meats, traditional slow-cooked tajines, rich hearty stews, roasted duck, or a selection of mature artisan cheeses.
