About the Bodega Hermanos del Villar Gaudeamus Tempranillo 2022 750ml
Rioja may be the most famous wine region in Spain, but Ribera del Duero is no slouch. This Bodegas is an ambitious and relatively new project, led by small family dedicated to offering a pure expression of Tempranillo. The wine is also aged for a period of five months, in a mixture of French and American oak barrels. It’s elegant and balanced, combining ripe cherry fruit with a touch of the ‘Old School’. You’ll taste a fusion of leather, black tea, vanilla and subtle toast.
Very intense cherry color, with blueish and shiny reflections. Aromas of black fruits (blackberry, blueberry) integrated with a light touch of wood. Nice volume in the mouth on the fruit with a fresh finish. The tannins are round and the whole well balanced.
Side dishes: Cheeses, sausages and red game meat.
