Gordon & MacPhail Mr. George Legacy Series Edition No. 5 Glen Grant 1954 70 Year Old

Gordon & MacPhail "Mr. George Legacy" Series Edition No. 5 is an ultra-rare, historic 70-year-old single-cask bottling. Serving as the fifth and final release in the acclaimed Mr. George Legacy Series—which pays tribute to Mr. George Urquhart, pioneer of single malt Scotch whisky and second-generation custodian of Gordon & MacPhail—this release marks the company's 130th anniversary. Distilled in 1954 at the historic Glen Grant Distillery in Rothes and matured for 70 years in a single first-fill sherry puncheon (Cask No. 1823), it was bottled at a natural cask strength of 50.5% ABV without chill filtration or artificial coloring. Limited to just 130 bottles globally, it offers an extraordinary window into vintage Speyside whisky history.

Food Pairing: Pairs exceptionally well with fine dark chocolate truffles, aged Gouda, roasted chestnuts, or enjoyed as a standalone meditative digestif.

Tasting Notes: An exquisitely complex and deeply aged single malt showcasing soft leather, stewed prunes, dark cocoa, tobacco, and polished oak woodiness.

Nose: Aromas of light leather, stewed prunes, spicy clove, blueberry compote, vanilla fudge, roasted coffee beans, and subtle cherry.

Palate: Silky and refined on the palate with notes of red apple, walnut, dried orange peel, tobacco, caramelized banana, and dark chocolate intertwined with toasted oak.

Finish: Medium to long with a hint of delicate cask smoke, lingering dried fruit, and antique wood spice.

Serve: Best enjoyed neat in a Glencairn glass or copita after allowing it to breathe in the glass for several minutes to reveal its deep 70-year maturation layers.
