Futures Pichon Comtesse Reserve 2020

Crafted in the famed Pauillac appellation of Bordeaux, Réserve de la Comtesse 2020 is the official second wine of Chateau Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande, a Second Growth (Deuxième Grand Cru Classé). Produced under the meticulous care of winemaking director Nicolas Glumineau, the 2020 vintage represents an exceptional expression from a trio of iconic Bordeaux vintages (2018, 2019, 2020). Sourced from the estate's high-density vineyards situated on deep gravel over clay-limestone soils near the Gironde estuary, the hand-harvested grapes are vinified plot-by-plot in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats before aging in French oak barriques (40% new) for 12 months.

Food Pairing: Roasted rack of lamb, prime ribeye steak, braised short ribs, duck breast with dark fruit reduction, and aged hard cheeses.

95 Points - James Suckling

Love the lead pencil, black berry and graphite aromas and flavors with iron shavings. It’s medium- to full-bodied with very fine and polished tannins, that are poised and balanced. Classy. Almost drinkable but better in four or five years.

94 Points -  Wine Enthusiast

Ripe black fruits and rich tannins are piled high in this wine. It shows finesse in the tannins and in the blackberry flavors. This second wine is likely to age well. Drink from 2026
