Futures Les Pagodes de Cos 2020

Crafted in the famed Saint-Estèphe appellation of Bordeaux, Les Pagodes de Cos 2020 is the official second wine of Château Cos d'Estournel, a world-renowned Second Growth (Deuxième Grand Cru Classé). Produced from vines that share the same prestigious gravelly hill and clay-limestone soils as the Grand Vin, Les Pagodes de Cos captures the signature power, exotic spice, and opulent fruit of Cos d'Estournel while offering earlier approachability. Under the direction of owner Michel Reybier and winemaker Dominique Arangoïts, the 2020 vintage—celebrated as part of Bordeaux’s legendary trilogy of 2018, 2019, and 2020—was hand-harvested and aged in French oak barrels (around 50% new) to achieve optimal structure and aromatic complexity.

Food Pairing: Grilled ribeye steak, roasted lamb shank, venison, braised short ribs, duck breast with dark cherry glaze, and aged hard cheeses.

94 Points - James Suckling

The refinement and mouthfeel to this is so beautiful already, with polished, silky tannins. Medium-bodied and savory, with tobacco, berry and currant character. Nearly ready to drink. Drink or hold.

92 Points - Wine Enthusiast

This second wine is complex and structured. At same time, it has the proper openness and precocity of a second wine. Likely to age smoothly, the wine will be ready from 2026.
