About the Castello di Nipozzano Mormoreto 2021
The Mormoreto vineyard is located 300 metres above sealevel, planted in sandy soils with asouthwestern exposure. The grapes from the Mormoreto vineyard were harvested manually in 15 kg boxes. After the bunches are initially sorted in the vineyard, these were further selected upon their arrival in the cellar. This attention to detail always ensures the highest possible quality. The 2021 harvest yielded wonderfully ripe grapes with a beautifully acidic edge. Malolactic fermentation took place immediately after racking. At the end of the year, Mormoreto started its maturation/ageing in French oak barriques, where it was left for the next 18 months drawing maximum benefit from the natural micro-oxygenation provided by the oak. Several further months of ageing after bottling allowed the Mormoreto to blend, expressing its full elegance and potential.
