About the Freemark Abbey Cabernet Sauvignon Bosche Vineyard 2017 750ml
The nose exhibits aromas of black cherry, mocha, cassis and forest floor. The palate is bright yet creamy and filled with notes of forest fruits, leather, baking spices and soft vanilla. The textures are vibrant and integrated making this wine lovely now with the ability to age for decades in the cellar.
Blend: 93% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Merlot
98 Points - Wine Enthusiast
Blended with 7% Merlot from the famous site, along the benchlands of the Mayacamas, this is a juicy, delicious and sophisticated wine, with impressive, complementary bolts of freshness and intensity that are fully in sync. Notes of gravel, black cherry, currant and herb ride along a structured and generous palate of memorable greatness.
95 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
Bottled separately as a single-vineyard wine since 1971, the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Bosche Vineyard features a hint of mint upfront, followed by mixed currants (red and black). There's a gentle herbal undercurrent to this blend of 93% Cabernet Sauvignon and 7% Merlot, which lends it an extra note of complexity. Full-bodied, suave and streamlined, this is rich and velvety without being overly broad or expansive, finishing long and elegant.
95 Points - James Suckling
Lots of lead pencil, iodine and black fruit on the nose. Some dried fruit, too, following through to a full body with a rich, juicy palate with lightly toasted oak and spice at the end.
94 Points - Decanter
The Bosche vineyard sits on a gravel bench, with a high water table, and requires a bit more attention to control vigour. Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot are planted here, and each year roughly 5%-10% of Merlot will make it into the final blend (7% in 2018). Bright black fruit nose with pretty red florals and classic Rutherford dust. Beguiling blueberry and black cherry flavours abound, while angular tannins segue to a confected finish. A wine to really contemplate.
91 Points - Wine Spectator
Ripe and expressive in feel, with a polished core featuring a tasty set of sweet bay leaf, licorice and cassis flavors that glide through. Ends with a lightly toasted, savory finish.
