About the Fontodi Vigna Del Sorbo Gran Selezione 2022
Fontodi Vigna del Sorbo Gran Selezione is our curated offering for customers seeking a high-end Tuscan Sangiovese, but not a Brunello di Montalcino or some obscure IGT Toscana with a plain parchment label. Sometimes, only a true Chianti Classico Riserva will do, especially as a gift for that certain person. Fontodi's packaging is beautiful, the value and pedigree are there, and the wine is absolutely spectacular. With a south-west exposure, Vigna del Sorba is a 55+-year-old single vineyard whose Sangiovese (100%) is steel-fermented with indigenous yeast before aging in barriques and French oak for 24 months, qualifying it as a Riserva. This medium-to-full Chianti is elegant, decadent, and densely woven with cherries, bramble fruit, pomander orange, and leather over fine tannins. Age for another few years or decant now.
