The Fontodi 2020 Pinot Nero Case Via shows a surprisingly dark color with thick concentration. It does not look like Pinot Nero, nor does it smell like the Burgundian grape. This original, out-of-the-box expression from sunny central Italy is redolent of black cherry, candied orange peel and some balsam or medicinal herb with a hint of cherry cough drop. This was a very warm vintage, and this Tuscan wine won't let you forget it.
