Fontodi Chianti Classico 2022 is an exceptionally deep, velvety, and organically grown expression of Tuscany's legendary Conca d'Oro (golden shell) amphitheater in Panzano. Due to a dramatic mid-August hailstorm that significantly reduced crop yields, this rare 100% Sangiovese vintage possesses an unexpected, opulent concentration balanced by a lighter wood extraction process. It greets the nose with a dark, expressive bouquet of baked plums, dark cherries, pressed blue flowers, and dusty stone, seamlessly woven with hints of cinnamon, mocha, and new leather. On the palate, it is medium to full-bodied, dense, and beautifully structured, matching its savory core of blackcurrant and tart red berries with a powerful mineral tension, chewy tannins, and a striking, juicy natural acidity that carries through to a remarkably long, iron-tinged finish.
