About the Domaine Fontaine-Gagnard Criots-Batard-Montrachet Grand Cru 2024
Domaine Fontaine-Gagnard Criots-Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru 2024 is an exceptionally rare, rich, and monumental white Burgundy produced from old Chardonnay vines within the minuscule Criots-Bâtard-Montrachet vineyard. Spanning less than two hectares in total, Criots is the southernmost Grand Cru in the Côte de Beaune and the only Grand Cru lying entirely within the commune of Chassagne-Montrachet. Fermented with indigenous yeasts and aged in French oak barrels (around 30% new), this wine displays a radiant golden-straw hue and a captivating, highly complex bouquet of white peach, meyer lemon, honeysuckle, crushed limestone, toasted brioche, and hazelnut. On the palate, it exhibits immense depth, concentration, and volume, seamlessly balancing a opulent texture with vibrant mineral acidity and a long, resonant, saline-tinged finish.
Food Pairing: Pairs superbly with butter-poached lobster, pan-seared sea scallops, roasted turbot, roasted veal sweetbreads in cream sauce, or aged Comté cheese.
