About the Holzer & Holzer Original Granit (Fernet, True Bitter)
Holzer Original Granit (Fernet, True Bitter) is an artisanal herbal liqueur crafted by Raphael Holzer in collaboration with his father. Named after the solid granite rocks of Austria's Mühlviertel region, this "true bitter" expression is a drier, amplified take on the original Fernet Hunter. Produced with reduced sugar, an increased proportion of bitter roots, and added chamomile alongside arnica, orris root, and lavender, it delivers a stoic, mineral-driven, and intensely aromatic profile.
Food Pairing: Rich charcuterie, roasted duck breast, blue cheese, dark chocolate truffles, or grilled sausages.
Tasting Notes : Light golden amber in appearance with a dry, crisp, and herbaceous mouthfeel.
Nose : Warm and aromatic with soft chamomile, cooked lemon, orange jam, dried herbs, and subtle vanilla.
Palate : Very dry and intensely bitter with notes of coating bitter flowers, dried arnica, chamomile spice, and earthy roots.
Finish : Long, lingering, and dry with an evolving, prominent botanical bitterness and gentle spice.
Serve : Serve chilled over ice, topped with soda water, mixed with tea, or as a dry modifier in craft cocktails.
