Fernando de Castilla Solera Gran Reserva Brandy de Jerez

Produced in the historic heart of Jerez de la Frontera, Spain, by Bodegas Rey Fernando de Castilla, this Solera Gran Reserva represents the pinnacle of traditional Andalusian brandy craftsmanship. Distilled from select white grape wines, the spirit undergoes long, patient maturation using the traditional solera y criaderas system. It is aged for an average of 15 to 20 years in old American oak casks that previously held the winery’s renowned, highly aged Oloroso and Amontillado sherries. This extended maturation in sherry-seasoned wood imparts exceptional smoothness, a deep mahogany hue, and an intricate flavor profile loaded with dark raisins, toasted nuts, fig jam, old leather, and rich wood rancio.

Food Pairing: Dark chocolate (70%+ cocoa), aged Manchego or Cabrales blue cheese, roasted walnuts and pecans, dried figs and dates, or enjoyed alongside a fine hand-rolled cigar.

Tasting Notes: Deep mahogany with bright amber and dark copper reflexes, displaying a rich, full body and heavy, slow-moving tears on the glass.

Nose: Rich, complex, and deeply aromatic, opening with dark raisin, dried fig, and prune, followed by toasted hazelnut, old leather, dark caramel, vanilla bean, and noble sherry rancio.

Palate: Velvety, smooth, and full-bodied on the palate, featuring sweet dark dried fruits, caramelized brown sugar, and toasted oak upfront before unfolding into roasted almonds, dark cocoa, subtle espresso, and warm baking spices.
