El Dorado High Ester Blend PM/DHE 51.7% ABV
About the El Dorado High Ester Blend PM/DHE 51.7% ABV
Early in 2024, Guyana's chief rum maker El Dorado made waves when it produced a High Ester Blend expression featuring a combo rarely seen La Bonne Intention mark with the Diamond High Ester mark.
The label alone featuring the words "High Ester" were already sufficient to send rum lovers into a frenzy, and yet this was further topped off by featuring two rarely seen rum styles.
For those unfamiliar, Guyana was once home to numerous rum distilleries that emerged from the many sugar estates. However, as the sugar industry declined, these distilleries were consolidated until there was but just one - the Diamond distilling complex owned by El Dorado. At Diamond, numerous heritage rum stills, some famously over a hundred years old, have been consolidated and preserved, thereby allowing the distillery to produce a wide variety of rum styles or marks.
And now going into 2025, El Dorado looks to build on that High Ester excitement with yet another High Ester Blend, this time featuring a blend of Port Mourant and Diamond High Ester.
The new expression will be bottled at 51.7% ABV, and features rums aged for 10 years.
