Domaine Dugat-Py Mazis-Chambertin Grand Cru Très Vieilles Vignes is a monumental, ultra-rare masterpiece and one of the most powerful expressions of Pinot Noir in the entire Côte de Nuits. Sourced from ancient massal-selection vines planted as far back as 1947, this tiny production Grand Cru is legendary for its wild, brooding character and immense longevity. Under Loïc Dugat-Py’s modern direction, the wine masterfully balances its historical muscularity with refined winemaking, incorporating significant whole-cluster fermentation and a highly integrated oak profile. In the glass, it shows an opaque, deep ruby-purple color. The nose is spectacularly complex and multi-dimensional, bursting with black raspberries, dark wild plums, and cassis, seamlessly interwoven with tertiary notes of game, smoked meat, iron ore, licorice, and exotic spices. On the palate, it is full-bodied, immense, and incredibly multi-layered, showing massive old-vine dry extract and structural authority.
