About the Domaine Dugat-Py Gevrey-Chambertin Les Evocelles Tres Vieilles Vignes
Domaine Dugat-Py Gevrey-Chambertin Les Evocelles Très Vieilles Vignes is a spectacular, mineral-driven wine sourced from a highly regarded parcel situated at the very top of the slope in Gevrey-Chambertin, bordering Brochon. Due to its high elevation and poor, stony soils, this cool microclimate yields a Pinot Noir of exceptional tension and chiseled definition. Crafted from ancient massal-selection vines, it balances its natural structural power with the domain's modern winemaking style under Loïc Dugat-Py, which highlights pure fruit expression and a highly integrated, dialed-back oak regime. In the glass, it shows a deep ruby hue. The nose is incredibly precise and lifted, bursting with wild red berries, dark cherries, and crushed stone minerality, interwoven with notes of violet, white pepper, and subtle wood smoke. On the palate, it is medium-bodied, tight, and focused, balancing old-vine density with a vibrant, energetic line of acidity and fine-grained, chalky tannins that lead into a long, beautifully linear finish.
Food Pairing: Roasted squab, duck confit, grilled pork chops with rosemary, wild mushroom tart, or roasted pheasant.
