About the Joseph Drouhin Volnay 2021 750ml

A wine of great elegance with a vivid and bright colour. When the wine is young, the aromas are reminiscent of violet and black currant. With age, the aromas take on notes of ripe or candied fruit, mushroom and mild spices. On the palate, a pleasant sensation of roundness and velvety texture. Long aftertaste, with touches of candied fruit and vanilla.

Fragrant nose of thyme, licorice, currants and mulberries. Some orange peel. Very fresh acidity and bright fruit, with a medium body and fine-grained tannins. Precise and lengthy finish. Drink or hold.

A deft but still easily perceptible dollop of wood sets off airy and pretty aromas of red currant, dark cherry and plenty of floral elements. There is markedly better refinement to the utterly delicious and silky textured flavors that possess both good richness and a subtle minerality that slowly emerges on the balanced and persistent finale.
