DRC Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru 2022

Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, often referred to simply as DRC, is one of the most celebrated and influential wine estates in the world. Based in the village of Vosne-Romanée in the Côte de Nuits, the domaine’s origins trace back to the 13th century when the Abbey of Saint-Vivant began cultivating vines on the slopes surrounding the village. The estate’s modern reputation was cemented in the 18th century when the Prince of Conti acquired the Romanée vineyard, giving it his name and elevating its prestige.

The two whites, Corton-Charlemagne and Montrachet, are also successes in 2022. The Corton-Charlemagne reveals plenty of lemon, pear and oak spice flavors matched to a vibrant profile, with excellent structure and a long, mineral finish.

Full-bodied, ample and layered, with a sweet and enveloping core of fruit, ripe acids and a chalky finish, it's built along lines similar to the demonstrative 2019. As readers may remember, it's produced from almost three hectares of vineyards, in the communes of Aloxe-Corton and Pernand-Vergelesses, that have been leased from Bonneau du Martray since November 2018. Once again, it reflects the domaine's vision for Chardonnay—picked at full maturity, in a powerful, gastronomic style.
