Quinta Dona Matilde Vinha do Pinto Red

Crafted in the heart of the iconic Douro Valley in Portugal, Quinta Dona Matilde 'Vinha do Pinto' is a single-parcel, flagship red wine that captures the sheer power, history, and terroir complexity of one of the world's oldest demarcated wine regions. Originating from a historic estate classified as "Letter A" (the highest quality rating in the Douro), this cuvée is sourced exclusively from a special parcel known as Vinha do Pinto, featuring ancient old vines planted over 90 years ago. A true field blend of more than 30 co-planted indigenous grape varieties—including Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz, and rare native varietals—the vines grow on steep, sun-drenched schist terraces along the banks of the Douro River. Winemaker João Pissarra employs traditional, non-interventional techniques, conducting hand harvests with strict sorting followed by gentle extraction and indigenous yeast fermentation in stainless steel and concrete. The wine matures in fine French oak barrels, yielding a harmonious synthesis of dark wild berry fruit, balsamic herbs, firm structural tannins, and a striking slate-schist minerality.

Food Pairing: Roasted rack of lamb with herbs, slow-braised wild boar stew, grilled prime ribeye steak, roasted duck breast, venison, roasted Mediterranean vegetables, and aged Portuguese sheep milk cheeses like Queijo Serra da Estrela or São Jorge.
