Dominus Othello 2021

Lots of blackberries, dark cherries and hints of orange peel and bark in the aromas.Medium- to full-bodied with fine creamy tannins that caress the palate. The tannic tension give this focus and brightness. 85% cabernet sauvignon, 9% cabernet franc and the rest petit verdot. 

Produced largely from the vines at the very front of the property, where there are higher proportions of clay and silt, the 2021 Othello Red Wine marks the first time this wine has been released to the US market (it has been made since 2005, first for the Japanese market, then sold into Canada as well). There are 1,000 cases of this wine, which is a blend of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Cabernet Franc and 6% Petit Verdot that saw just 20% new French oak, with the balance being second or third-use. Aromas include raspberry and cherry fruit, with some softly dusty earth tones. Medium to full-bodied, the wine exhibits fairly soft tannins and a silky mouthfeel, not that rich or concentrated but balanced and gently savory on the lingering, mocha-tinged finish.
