About the Domaine Nico Soeur et Freres Histoire d’A: Pinot Noir 2023
A crystalline and high-toned expression of high-altitude viticulture, the 2023 Histoire d’A is sourced from a specific, limestone-rich parcel in Gualtallary at an elevation of 4,430 feet. Named for Laura Catena’s daughter, Nicola Adriana, this wine is defined by its remarkable aromatic purity and mineral tension. It displays a translucent ruby hue and opens with a complex bouquet of red currants, wild raspberries, and violets, interwoven with signature notes of wet stones, graphite, and white pepper. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied and laser-focused, showcasing a vertical structure, racy acidity, and chalky, fine-grained tannins typical of the region’s calcareous soils. The finish is exceptionally long and saline, reflecting the cool-climate precision of this top-tier parcel.
