Domaine Dugat-Py Monthélie Très Vieilles Vignes 2023 is a remarkably concentrated and graceful red Burgundy sourced from old-vines planted across choice plots in the Côte de Beaune (historically acquired from Domaine Newman). Grown on gravelly limestone soils covered with red clay and marl, this 100% Pinot Noir reflects the domain's evolving, less interventionist style under Loïc Dugat-Py. To handle the sun-kissed 2023 vintage, the wine is crafted with a high proportion of whole-cluster fermentation and an integrated aging regime of 16 to 18 months in oak barrels (30% new), bottled entirely unfined and unfiltered. In the glass, it shows a bright ruby hue, opening with a highly expressive and perfumed nose of ripe redberries, wild pomegranate, and black plums, seamlessly laced with subtle hints of cracked black pepper, forest floor, and damp stone minerality. The palate is medium-bodied and beautifully clear, displaying a velvety texture with fine, digestively smooth tannins and a refreshing core of natural acidity that drives a persistent, elegant finish.
