About the Doc Swinson's Exploratory Cask Moscatel Finish Bourbon
Doc Swinson's Exploratory Cask Moscatel Finish Bourbon is a limited-release straight bourbon produced at MGP and finished by Doc Swinson's in decades-old Moscatel de Setubal casks from Portugal. The bourbon matured for five years and ten months in American white oak before spending an additional eight months and twenty-nine days in Moscatel casks. Bottled at 52.65% ABV, the distinctive finish brings vibrant citrus, honeyed fruit and rich sweetness to the underlying high-rye bourbon character.
Food Pairing: Pair with roasted pork, glazed duck, aged cheddar, toasted nuts, dried fruit, orange-infused dark chocolate or caramel desserts.
Tasting Notes: Rich and fruit-forward, with honey, caramel and citrus developing into dried apricot, sultana, orange peel, toffee and toasted nuts.
Nose: Honey and caramel lead with bright citrus and roasted nut aromas.
Palate: Dried apricots, honey and sultanas unfold alongside orange peel, toffee and toasted nuts.
Finish: Sweet and lingering with excellent texture, carrying honeyed fruit, citrus and gentle oak through the finish.
