About the Dewar's 32 Year Old Double Double 375ml
Dewar's 32 Year Old Double Double 375ml is a masterclass in ultra-aged blending, conceptualized by Master Blender Stephanie Macleod. This highly decorated expression undergoes a pioneering, ultra-meticulous four-stage aging process: single malts and grains are aged separately for 32 years, blended and rested by category, married together for a third time, and finally finished in rich Spanish Pedro Ximénez sherry casks. Bottled at a robust 46% ABV without chill-filtration or caramel coloring, this limited-edition 375ml release delivers unparalleled structural elegance, silkiness, and a deep, decadent flavor profile that strips away all preconceived notions of blended Scotch.
Food Pairing: The deep sherry richness, dark cocoa, and dried fruit profile of this ultra-premium Scotch make it a magnificent companion to rich desserts like sticky toffee pudding, dark chocolate lava cake, or a fine artisanal cheese board featuring heavily aged Gouda, Roquefort blue cheese, and roasted pecans. It also pairs spectacularly well with slow-roasted duck breast with a plum reduction or a high-quality hand-rolled maduro cigar.
TASTING NOTES - A deep, mid-golden amber with polished copper highlights. The texture is immensely heavy, oily, and luxuriously mouth-coating with a velvety, unctuous weight.
NOSE - Rich and deeply complex, opening with a powerful bouquet of stewed berries, plum jam, and rich treacle molasses, beautifully counterbalanced by notes of old leather, toasted pecans, vanilla fudge, and a subtle hint of fireplace smoke.
PALATE - Full-bodied, layered, and perfectly balanced. Deep flavors of sweet raisins, dried figs, and dark chocolate are followed by a warming wave of baking spices including cinnamon, nutmeg, and clove, all resting on a savory foundation of dry oak and soft butterscotch.
FINISH - Exceptionally long, warm, and highly complex. The dense dark cocoa and brown sugar notes slowly recede, leaving an elegant, lingering aftertaste of roasted coffee beans, fine leather, a delicate marine salinity, and a faint wisp of charcoal smoke.
SERVE - Best enjoyed strictly neat at room temperature in a Glencairn glass or small snifter to fully appreciate its 32 years of wood development, allowing it to breathe for a few minutes before sipping. Avoid ice, though one or two drops of pure room-temperature water can be added to coax out lighter citrus peel and floral notes.
