Decoy Limited Alexander Valley Red 2023 is a luxurious, well-structured, and deeply expressive red wine blend that beautifully showcases the exceptional quality of Sonoma County's premier growing regions. Sourced from some of the most acclaimed estate properties and vineyard blocks in the warm Alexander Valley, this inaugural style blend benefits from a cool growing season that allowed for extended hangtime, resulting in remarkable intensity and beautifully balanced acidity. Composed primarily of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, and rounded out with Petite Sirah, Petit Verdot, and Malbec, the wine was aged for 15 months in 100% French oak barrels (40% new, 60% neutral). In the glass, it reveals a dark, concentrated ruby core with purple reflections. The highly aromatic nose opens with inviting scents of fresh boysenberry, ripe muddled strawberry, and dark plum, complexly layered with warm undertones of toasted cinnamon, cedarwood, and subtle sweet baking spices. On the palate, the wine is medium-to-full-bodied and voluptuously textured, showing an engaging, fruit-driven fluid coherence where its core of rich blackberry pie and dark cherries is effortlessly framed by silky, polished tannins and an enlivening thread of natural acidity.
