About the Darroze 2006 Bas-Armagnac
Darroze 2006 Bas-Armagnac is a vintage Armagnac from the Bas-Armagnac appellation, selected and bottled by Darroze. Distilled in 2006 and bottled at 49.5% ABV, this expressive Armagnac combines mature fruit and earthy complexity with liquorice, prune, dried fig, nutmeg and woodland notes. Its palate develops early rancio characteristics alongside walnut and mushroom, supported by present yet rounded tannins and considerable depth.
Food Pairing: Duck confit, foie gras, aged Comté, mushroom pâté, fig tart, walnut cake, gingerbread, roasted nuts, and dark chocolate.
Tasting Notes: Amber with golden reflections, complex and characterful, showing concentrated dried fruit, spice, woodland nuances and emerging rancio.
Nose: Liquorice, prune and dried fig with nutmeg and undergrowth, becoming increasingly expressive with aeration.
Palate: Complex and structured with walnut, mushroom and woodland notes, accompanied by rounded tannins and mature rancio character.
Finish: Long and characterful, carrying nuts, earthy woodland nuances, dried fruit and spice.
