Darroze Collection Unique Domaine de Rieston 1996 Bas-Armagnac

Darroze Collection Unique Domaine de Rieston 1996 Bas-Armagnac is a vintage Armagnac from Domaine de Rieston in Perquie, selected by Darroze for its Collection Unique. Produced by Jean-Luc Deyres entirely from Baco grapes, it was continuously distilled in 1996 and matured in regional oak before bottling at 49.5% ABV. Mature and highly expressive, it combines dried figs, plum preserves and ripe quince with warming spice, caramel, butter and walnut, while the palate retains impressive freshness and balance.

Food Pairing: Duck confit, foie gras, aged Comté, fig tart, quince paste, gingerbread, walnut cake, crème brûlée, and dark chocolate.

Tasting Notes: Golden with brown reflections, showing a complex balance of mature fruit, preserves, warming spice, caramel and nuts, followed by fresher fruit and herbal nuances.

Nose: Dried figs, plum preserves and ripe quince layered with clove, liquorice, gingerbread, caramel, butter and walnut.

Palate: Balanced and fresher in character, with dried apricot, melon preserves and chocolate-mint nuances supported by rounded tannins.

Finish: Very long and persistent, with lingering fruit, spice and rounded mature tannins.
