Crotin Grignolino D'Asti

Crafted in the rolling hills of Monferrato within Piedmont, Italy, Crotin Grignolino d'Asti is an authentic, highly expressive red wine that highlights one of the region's most historic indigenous grape varieties. Produced by Azienda Agricola Crotin 1897—a family-owned estate run by the Russo brothers in Maretto—the winery combines organic viticultural practices with a deep respect for Piedmontese traditions. The name Grignolino originates from the local dialect word grignole, referring to the grape’s numerous seeds (pips), which contribute its signature fine-grained tannic backbone and bright herbal complexity. Sourced from high-altitude vineyards planted in sandy, limestone-rich marine soils filled with ancient fossil shells, the vines benefit from ideal sun exposure and cool night winds. Hand-harvested and fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats to preserve its pure primary fruit, the wine ages in stainless steel and concrete tanks without oak intervention. The result is a delightfully pale, light-bodied red boasting high aromatic complexity, vibrant natural acidity, and a distinctive, refreshing dry finish. Best enjoyed slightly chilled.

Food Pairing: Charcuterie and cured meats (salumi, prosciutto), roasted chicken, grilled pork chops, mushroom risotto, seared salmon, pasta with light meat ragù, and semi-hard cheeses like Castelmagno or Young Fontina.
