About the Croft Vintage Port 2011
Crafted in Portugal’s Douro Valley, Croft Vintage Port 2011 is a monumental classic Vintage Port hailing from one of the most legendary declarations of the 21st century. Founded in 1588, Croft is among the oldest Port houses in existence, renowned for its flagship estate, Quinta da Roeda, which forms the beating heart of this blend. Sourced from ancient, low-yielding vines grown on steep schist terraces along the Douro River near Pinhão, the 2011 growing season benefited from ideal winter rainfall and warm, sunny summer conditions, yielding fruit of extraordinary concentration and freshness. The grapes were traditionally foot-trodden in stone lagares to ensure gentle, thorough extraction before fortification with fine neutral grape spirit and brief maturation in large oak vats. Celebrated for its luscious, velvety texture, exotic floral aromatics, and dense black fruit core, the 2011 Croft Vintage Port is a true collector's masterpiece with decades of aging potential ahead.
Food Pairing: Serve after dinner alongside blue cheeses such as Stilton, Roquefort, or Gorgonzola, dark chocolate desserts, roasted walnuts, dried figs, or enjoy as a standalone sipping wine for fine cellaring.
97 Points - Wine Spectator
Effusively juicy, rich and concentrated, showing plenty of snap to the crisp and well-spiced flavors of wild berry, dark currant and plum tart. Orange-infused chocolate notes linger on the exotic, mocha-filled finish. Best from 2020 through 2045. 5,000 cases made.
95 Points - Wine Enthusiast
This shows very sweet fruit that's ripe, dense and already delicious. That doesn't mean the tannins don't bring out the firmness at the core of this powerful wine. It is integrated, packed with black plum flavors, and full bodied. For long-term aging.
95 Points - James Sucking
Beautiful aromas of violets and blueberries with hints of blue slate. Full body, medium sweet with chewy tannins and a long, long finish. A leafy, stemmy, nutty undertone to this with hints of shaved milk chocolate. Very refined and beautiful. 5,000 cases produced of this foot-trodden wine. Try in 2021.
