About the Copperworks Double Peated Single Malt Release 36 750ml
Release 36 from Copperworks was distilled in 2016 and Bottled in 2021 at about four and a half years old. It is a peated Single Malt American Whiskey that matured for more than three and a half years aging in virgin oak. After that, the whiskey spent a further seven months in an ex-Ardbeg cask. Bottled at 49%.
Copperworks Distillery of Seattle, Washington has made a name for themselves with their Single Malt Whiskey releases. Similar to Whitehorse, Yukon's Two Brewers, Copperworks likes to experiment with small batch and single cask one-off releases that focus on different styles of brewing, distillation, or cask maturation.
From the Producer
"This release started with our Washington Peated Single Malt Whiskey, which was made from locally grown barley malted with peat from a bog in Washington State. That whiskey had matured for 45 months in new American Oak and we finished it for an additional seven months in a cask that previously held Ardbeg whisky. The Copperworks Washington Peated Whiskey brought savory and earthy notes to the release and the Ardbeg cask layered on a more traditional Islay Scotch smokiness. The sweetness from the new American Oak cask balanced the heavy smoke from the Ardbeg cask."
