The Cooper's Choice Smoking Sherry Beast Bunnahabhain Cask #1153

The Cooper's Choice Smoking Sherry Beast Bunnahabhain Cask #1153 is a limited-edition Islay single malt Scotch whisky independently bottled by The Vintage Malt Whisky Company. Initially matured in American oak before receiving a finish in a fresh Oloroso sherry butt, this heavily peated expression brings together robust maritime smoke and rich sherry-cask character. Bottled at 53.5% ABV in 2023, with only 780 bottles released, it offers an intense combination of dried fruits, dark chocolate, sweet spices and earthy peat smoke.

Food Pairing: Pairs beautifully with smoked brisket, barbecued lamb, aged cheddar, roasted walnuts and dark chocolate truffles. Its smoky, sherried character also complements chargrilled mushrooms, spiced nuts and chocolate-orange desserts.

Tasting Notes: A full-bodied, heavily peated Islay single malt displaying candied nuts, dried raisins, rich malt, chocolate-covered citrus and roasted coffee, balanced by warming spices, herbal smoke and dark treacle sweetness.

Nose: Inviting aromas of candied nuts, earthy malted barley, aromatic pipe smoke and rich raisins, creating a layered balance of sweetness and peat.

Palate: Rich, oily malt develops alongside chocolate-coated orange, gentle baking spices, roasted coffee and smoked herbs. The Oloroso sherry influence adds depth to the whisky's robust smoky character.

Finish: Lingering mocha, dark cocoa and candied citrus unfold alongside persistent peat smoke, spiced treacle and warming oak spice.
