Domaine des Comtes Lafon Meursault 1er Cru Perrieres 2020

Crafted in the Côte de Beaune region of Burgundy, France, Domaine des Comtes Lafon Meursault 1er Cru 'Les Perrières' 2020 is widely regarded as one of the single greatest Premier Cru white Burgundies produced in the world. Led by Dominique Lafon, this legendary estate practices biodynamic viticulture across its highly coveted plots in Meursault. 'Les Perrières' sits at the pinnacle of Meursault's hierarchy—a vineyard whose rocky, limestone-rich soils (perrières translates to "quarries") yield wines of intense mineral focus, power, and crystalline purity that frequently rival Grand Crus. Hand-harvested, pressed whole-bunch, and fermented with native yeasts, the 2020 vintage aged in French oak barrels (approximately 25-30% new) before lengthy lees maturation. The iconic 2020 vintage yielded fruit of profound concentration paired with vibrant, classic acidity, giving this bottle immense longevity.

Food Pairing: Butter-poached lobster, pan-seared sea scallops with truffle emulsion, roasted turbot, veal tenderloin in cream sauce, and aged Comté cheese.

94 Points-  Wine Advocate

The 2020 Meursault 1er Cru Perrières is one of the more introverted wines in the range, unwinding to exhibit notes of lime zest, crisp Anjou pear, exotic fruits, white flowers and spices. Medium to full-bodied, chalky and saline, it may take on additional dimension with further élevage, but for now I'd rank this behind Charmes and Genevrières this year.
