About the Bodega Colome Altura Maxima Malbec 1.5L
Crafted in the remote, majestic heights of Payogasta in the Calchaquí Valley of Salta, Argentina, Bodega Colomé 'Altura Máxima' Malbec is one of the highest vineyards in the world, standing at an astounding 3,111 meters (10,206 feet) above sea level. This pinnacle bottling represents a groundbreaking feat of viticulture led by Donald Hess and winemakers Thibaut Delmotte and French consultant Michel Rolland. At this extreme altitude, extreme UV radiation causes the Malbec grapes to grow exceptionally thick skins, yielding incredible color, structural power, and dense polyphenols, while extreme cold night temperatures preserve pure, soaring natural acidity. Hand-harvested and gently fermented with wild yeasts, the wine ages for 24 months in neutral French oak barrels to allow the remarkable high-altitude terroir to shine without oak mask. Encased in a massive 1.5L Magnum format, 'Altura Máxima' represents an extraordinary collector's item with profound aging capacity.
Food Pairing: Charbroiled Prime dry-aged porterhouse, roasted venison loin with dark berry reduction, grilled rack of lamb, braised wild boar, empanadas, and aged artisanal hard cheeses.
