About the Bodega Colome 1831 Old Vines Malbec
Crafted high in the Calchaquí Valleys of Salta, Argentina, Bodega Colomé '1831' Old Vines Malbec is an iconic ultra-premium red that commemorates the founding year of Argentina's oldest continually operating winery. Sourced from centenarian, pre-phylloxera Malbec vines growing at extreme high altitudes (over 2,300 meters above sea level), the grapes experience intense solar radiation and dramatic diurnal temperature swings. This extreme terroir yields thick-skinned fruit with incredible concentration, vibrant natural acidity, and deep color density. Hand-harvested, rigorously sorted, and fermented in small temperature-controlled tanks, the wine ages for 18 to 24 months in French oak barrels followed by extended bottle maturation. The result is a monumental, complex Malbec that combines power, minerality, and silky elegance.
Food Pairing: Charbroiled dry-aged ribeye steak, grilled lamb chops, braised beef short ribs, roasted wild boar, empanadas, and aged sharp cheeses like Gouda or Manchego.
