Malternative #39 'L'Horizon Perdu' Marie Foucher Lot 96 1996 Fins Bois Cognac

Produced by Marie Foucher and selected by independent bottler Malternative Belgium, this single-cask expression comes from the Fins Bois growing region. Sourced from the 1996 harvest (designated as Lot 96), this cognac aged for nearly three decades in French oak cellars before being bottled at natural cask strength. The clay and limestone soil of Fins Bois gives this vintage cognac a vibrant core of ripe orchard and tropical fruit, soft floral sweetness, balanced oak spices, and an approachable elegance.

Food Pairing: Creamy soft cheeses like Brie or Pont-l'Évêque, roasted duck breast with peach glaze, apple tarte tatin, dark chocolate desserts, or enjoyed as a refined digestif.

Tasting Notes: Bright golden amber with warm copper highlights, displaying medium-to-rich viscosity and clean, graceful legs along the glass.

Nose: Expressive and fruity, opening with fresh nectarine, candied peach, and ripe apricot, followed by wildflower honey, soft vanilla, citrus peel, and gentle toasted oak spice.

Palate: Round, smooth, and vibrant on the palate, featuring sweet yellow plum, honeyed orchard fruit, and orange blossom upfront before evolving into soft oak tannins, light cinnamon, and subtle almond.

Finish: Medium-to-long, clean, and warming with lingering notes of sweet stone fruit, light floral nectar, and delicate wood spice.

Serve: Enjoy neat at room temperature in a tulip glass, letting it breathe for a few minutes before sipping.
