Malternative #37 'L'Esprit Nomade' Marie Foucher Lot 75 1975 Fins Bois Cognac

Produced by Marie Foucher and selected by independent bottler Malternative Belgium, this single-cask release originates from the Fins Bois terroir. Sourced from the 1975 harvest (designated as Lot 75), this cognac matured for nearly five decades in oak cellars before being bottled at natural cask strength. The clay and limestone soils of Fins Bois give this ultra-aged cognac a profile marked by forward orchard and tropical fruit notes, subtle floral elegance, polished wood, and rich rancio complexity.

Food Pairing: Soft bloomy-rind cheeses like Camembert or Brie, roasted duck breast with plum glaze, apple tarte tatin, dark chocolate tarts, or as a refined digestif alongside a fine cigar.

Tasting Notes: Deep warm amber with golden topaz highlights, exhibiting impressive viscosity and slow-moving legs along the glass.

Nose: Rich, aromatic, and expressive, opening with candied peach, dried apricot, and ripe yellow plum, followed by wildflower honey, polished cedarwood, light tobacco, and subtle oak spice.

Palate: Full-bodied, supple, and smooth on the palate, featuring sweet orchard fruit nectar, honeyed figs, and gentle wood tannins upfront before developing into warm nutmeg, toasted almond, and soft rancio.

Finish: Long, warm, and elegant with lingering accents of dried stone fruit, sweet spice, and polished wood.

Serve: Enjoy neat at room temperature in a tulip glass, allowing it to rest for a few minutes in the glass before tasting.
