Malternative #36 'En Danseuse' Paul Beau Lot 70 1970 Grande Champagne Cognac

Produced by Maison Paul Beau in Segonzac and selected by independent bottler Malternative Belgium, this single-cask release originates from the prestigious Grande Champagne terroir. Sourced from the 1970 harvest (designated as Lot 70), this ultra-aged cognac spent over five decades maturing in French oak cellars. It demonstrates classic Grande Champagne complexity, highlighting deep tropical fruitiness, polished oak, floral undertones, and well-developed rancio.

Food Pairing: Aged Comte cheese, dark chocolate with candied orange peel, roasted duck with plum sauce, pecan pie, or enjoyed as a contemplative digestif alongside a fine cigar.

Tasting Notes: Deep mahogany amber with brilliant copper highlights and heavy, slow-forming legs along the glass.

Nose: Complex and expressive, opening with dried mango, passionfruit, and candied orange peel, followed by old leather, cigar box, polished cedarwood, and gentle rancio.

Palate: Rich, round, and elegant on the palate, featuring sweet papaya, dried apricot, honeyed tropical fruit, and gentle wood tannins before evolving into tobacco leaf, nutmeg, and soft cocoa spice.

Finish: Long, warming, and remarkably refined with lingering notes of tropical fruit, old oak, subtle rancio, and dried flowers.

Serve: Enjoy neat at room temperature in a tulip glass, letting it breathe for a few minutes before sipping.
