Malternative #29 Arome Exquis Vallein Tercinier 55 Year Old 1955 Lot 55 Cognac

Malternative #29 Arome Exquis Vallein Tercinier 55 Year Old 1955 Lot 55 Cognac is an exceptionally mature independent bottling selected by Malternative Belgium from the historic stocks of Vallein Tercinier. Distilled in Chermignac in 1955 from grapes grown in a distinctive Bons Bois vineyard known locally as "La Champagne," the Cognac matured for 55 years in Limousin oak casks in a humid cellar. In 2010, the spirit was transferred into four demijohns to preserve its mature character before being selected for Malternative Belgium's #29 release. Bottled in January 2024 at 41.5% ABV, only 165 bottles were produced. Its profile is exceptionally aromatic and fruit-driven, combining apricot, peach, citrus and mango with mineral notes, roasted nuts, mature rancio and refreshing herbal complexity.

Food Pairing: Aged Comte, foie gras, roasted duck, apricot tart, peach desserts, toasted almonds, walnut pastries, and dark chocolate.

Tasting Notes: Exceptionally aromatic and fruit-driven with ripe stone fruit, citrus, tropical fruit and mineral notes developing into nuts, spice, rancio and refreshing herbal character.

Nose: Apricot jam, ripe peach, nectarine and mango with mandarin, grapefruit, wet chalk, subtle flowers, roasted almonds and mature rancio.

Palate: Apricot, peach and mandarin with grapefruit, mint, herbal tea, nutmeg and ginger, followed by chestnut, roasted walnut and resinous nuances.
