This cognac has an astounding history, spirited away from the Nazis in WWII, and hidden in caves near the border with Spain. This eau de vie is from a small undisclosed producer, and was matured in oak until 2018... for 90 years. At that age you would expect it to be overoaked, but it is anything but. This 1928 vintage cognac stands for finesse and sophistication. Subtle tastes and complexity that can only be obtained by letting time do its thing. This cognac was removed from the barrel in time and divided into lady jeannes, stored in the buildings of ORECO (organisation économique cognac) to guarantee the vintage. The balance between ripe and fermented white fruit, rancio, tobacco bars and mint is fantastic! So old and still bustling with life. The gourmand character and its complexity emphasize his mark on history. History, you get that in your glass.
